First Federal Bank is seeking full-time Mortgage Loan Advisors to join our lending team (remote work opportunities may be available with this position)! SUMMARY

The primary role of the Mortgage Loan Advisor (MLA) is to work with consumers who have been identified as potential loan customers throughout the loan process from initial contact through closing. The position will gather the supporting loan documentation needed to process and approve the loan according to the banks loan policy. The MLA will also identify opportunities that best suits the customer. The MLA will assist in all phases of the mortgage loan process while providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. The MLA will perform other mortgage lending functions as needed to establish and support referral partner relationships.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Responsible for promotion of the Banks Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Initiate and maintain a dialogue with potential mortgage customers by utilizing the Bank’s CRM system.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all mortgage products offered by the bank. 
  • Provide financial products and services that improve the financial wellbeing of the customer.
  • Perform credit analysis and analyze applications, business/personal financial statements, credit reports, and applicable financial ratios to determine the best loan options.
  • Complete the transaction with the customer ensuring quality interaction and customer success.
  • Identify any other bank products that the customer qualifies for including ELOC, auto, unsecured personal loan and deposit products.   
  • Ensure a timely and accurate experience for the client.
  • Provided Quality Customer Service by answering customer inquiries regarding loans and delivering prompt communication at all stages of the loan process to all parties involved.
  • Communicate with banking center employees and other referral partners regarding all areas of the loan application process.
  • Initiates recommendations to change policies or procedures as deemed necessary to assure quality loans are originated and that the customer has a positive experience.
  • Field all mortgage related phone calls from borrowers from all branches and departments
  • Keep up-to-date on competitive banking products and services offered in the marketplace. 
  • Complies with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and related anti-money laundering statutes and federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  2 or 4 year college degree desired. Prior business development experience preferred. Experience in Sales is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 NMLS Registration preferred or Eligible to register for NMLS. NMLS required prior to Originating Loans.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

PC experience required, preferably loan processing software.
